SURF is enabling students to meet with and interview UK-based survivors of the Rwandan genocide about their lives before and after genocide, and experience during it, to preserve the vital oral history for posterity as well as for future education work in other schools.

A number of events have marked the 16th Anniversary of the Rwandan genocide this week. H.E. President Paul Kagame and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon were among those that pledged to continue to support the survivors of the Rwandan genocide.

There are two pieces of news that I share with you, both an acknowledgement of the work of SURF and our partners. At the 64th General Assembly of the United Nations last month, a resolution was adopted calling for the urgent implementation of proposals to assist survivors of the 1994 Rwandan genocide.
