Survivors Fund (SURF) is partnering with Msaada to support its Rwanda Marathon 2011.

Msaada is a Dorset-based charity which like SURF supports the work of the Eastern Region branch of AVEGA Agahozo in Rwamagana. For the first time next year, Mssada is organising a marathon in Rwanda to raise funding for AVEGA Eastern Region.

It will no doubt be a remarkable and unforgettable experience, and a great opportunity to see first hand the work of AVEGA. Though it will be hard going, as the weather will be hot and the course is at altitude, you will be guaranteed some unique running partners along the route!

I personally will be attempting my very first marathon. So if you fancy a challenge, and the opportunity to raise funding for a great cause, then do consider joining us. There is also a half-marathon option too, so do not let the full distance deter you.

The cost of the expedition is just £1,000, which covers flights, accommodation, travel in Rwanda, and the logistics for the marathon (further details here). There is the hope that participants will raise at least £1,500 for Msaada.

The race itself will be on Saturday 30th April 2011 – so you still have a full five months in which to train!
