In a Special Issue of Peace Review on Reparative Justice in Africa, Dr Noam Schimmel interviewed Survivors Fund (SURF) Chief Executive, Samuel Munderere, and Survivors Fund (SURF) UK Coordinator, David Russell, on their views on reparative justice.

In the introduction to the issue (which you can read in full via the link), Schimmel writes:

SURF’s reparative justice efforts in a range of areas – from mental healthcare to education – small business development, poverty reduction, and women’s rights – to commemoration and human rights and genocide prevention education are notable for their grassroots orientation and full consultation and participation of genocide survivors as both participants and program implementers.

Schimmel goes on to note:

SURF has an extraordinary track record of success with minimal resources and unparalleled achievements in community development of, for, and with Rwandan genocide survivors. Readers are encouraged to explore the SURF website to learn more about its reparative justice efforts as well as those of organizations that work in partnership with Survivors Fund (SURF), including Genocide Survivors Foundation and Foundation Rwanda.
