Survivors Fund (SURF), in collaboration with the the Jewish East End Celebration Society (JEECS) is organising a programme of events for the Borough of Tower Hamlets to mark Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) 2012.
The event includes a screening of the remarkable documentary, Coexist, at 630pm on Thursday 26th January at the Rich Mix in Bethnal Green, London. The film documents the stories of an array of women survivors, who have made the extraordinary decision to reconcile with the people who killed their husbands and children, and others who understandably cannot bring themselves to forgive or reconcile.
Booking for the event can be made online here. A full programme of events for HMD in Tower Hamlets can be downloaded from here.
In addition, there will be a screening of The Last Survivor on Monday 30th January, organised by the JCC for London. The film features the story of Jacqueline Murekatete, a survivor now living in New York and founder of Jacqueline’s Human Rights Corner with which Survivors Fund (SURF) is partnering on an income generating project for survivors in Ntarama in Rwanda. SURF Director, David Russell, will be on the panel for a Q&A session following the screening.
