April 7th marks the 16th Anniversary of the start of the genocide in Rwanda, in which one million Tutsi and a number of moderate Hutu sympathisers were killed.

Through the support of Awards for All of the Big Lottery Fund, Survivors Fund (SURF) is this year supporting three commemoration events in the UK to mark the anniversary.

In addition, SURF will be participating in the ‘Walk to Remember‘ organised by Aegis Students on Wednesday 7th April. The short walk leaves from the Holocaust Memorial Garden in Hyde Park (on the eastern side of the Serpentine) at midday, ending at Speaker’s Corner at 130pm.
